Join HAM
The HAM Channel is a place that transforms lives and inspires creativity. It’s a place where lifelong friendships are formed and careers are found. It’s a place that combines work with play and affects a campus.
Here are some of the reasons hundreds of students have passed through the HAM Channel studios of Xavier Hall for over 14 years:
Real World Experience
HAM Channel students produce every aspect of television from conception and development to filming in studio or in the field to post-production.
No experience is necessary to join the club and by the end of their time in HAM, students leave with the equivalent knowledge of working in a real studio for several years. That means are alumni are able to go into major studios such as NBC and MTV and be far more advanced than most that enter the jobs at the same time.
Our members learn all the technical skills, on-air training and communication skills needed not only to produce a television show, but run a whole channel.
Meaningful Campus Involvement
Getting involved in the HAM Channel means getting involved in Fairfield.
Basketball Games, student government elections, concerts and almost every other major event at Fairfield is covered by the HAM channel meaning that our students are some of the most involved and active on campus.
A Fun Community
Sure we work hard. But we play hard too. We don’t just do TV. We also hang out, go play laser tag, grab dinner, go to six flags and have barbecues.
We don’t just create television, we create a community.
Lifelong Friendships
All the time spent together – on location, in the studio, editing or producing – creates a bond
between HAM Channel members. That bond often translates into lifelong friendships. Our members not only work together, but hang out together and even live together.
The HAM Channel is a great place for Fairfield students to meet new people and create friendships that extend much further than the television studio.
